Sub titled, "More Than You Wanted To Know"
(cue heavy metal rock music) Buzz and I met at a party in December 1990. We were known as a couple from that day on. Buzz encouraged me to go to college and we took classes together at our local college. In the Spring of 1992, we rented a basement apartment together, which we lovingly refer to as "The Cave," as there were only 2 tiny little windows and it was almost totally dark inside. We could sleep until 3 in the afternoon, never knowing if it was light or dark outside.
(cue wedding music) We were married on a year or so later. Next, we moved to a new basement apartment-a daylight one. Lots of windows and we could actually grow plants there. That summer before we were married, Buzz began working for 2M. I was working on finishing my degree in special/elementary ed.
(cue Pomp and Circumstance) The fruits of our labor paid off. I finished college in Spring 1995, got my first teaching job and we bought our first house. It was a two bedroom condo in the middle of town. Buzz traveled a ton during this time and was promoted in 1996 to Vice President-General Manager of 2m Company.
(cue lullaby) We decided to think about starting a family and to do so, we needed a larger home. We bought a bigger home, sold the condo and moved. We managed to get our son, Trey, on the way during the fall of 1998 and he was born the following summer. I hated to return to work that fall, but did so half days. I taught a morning kindergarten class. I enjoyed it, but my heart was at home. I resigned that following year to be a full time mom.
(cue another lullaby) Our daughter, LeeAndra, was next to join our family. She made her arrival on a pleasant fall day, causing me much pain and discomfort from a C-section, but that's a story for another time. She completed our family and we will not be having anymore. No more lullaby music.
(cue AC/DC Thunderstruck, Trey's favorite song) Trey has had some difficulties in the area of speech & language, but we are trying really hard to remedy it for him. He had incredibly large tonsils nearly all of his little life that went undetected and unfortunately, wreaked havoc on his ability to process language, which in turn affected his ability to speak understandably. The tonsils and adenoids also affected his oxygen flow to his extremities which makes fine motor tasks difficult for Trey. Those nasty tonsils and adenoids were removed in Feb. 2004 and we've seen some nice progress since. We continue to try new things with Trey & he continues to work really hard to make progress.
(cue U2 Vertigo, LA's favorite song) LeeAndra is a little wild one who has to learn lessons the hard way, unfortunately, we've had several burns, bumps, scrapes and stitches from this. I am a regular caller to the Poison Control Center. I fully expect those teen years to be very exciting.
(cue Freedom songs!) The kids are both in school now and doing fine. That's all for now-we'll see what the future holds.
